#444 closed feature request (fixed)

Create a pseudo slippy map

Reported by: christoph Owned by: christoph
Priority: major Milestone: 2.7 release
Component: core Version: 2.7
Keywords: slippy Cc: marc

Description

The idea is to keep the old map image alive as long as the new map image is not loaded after a map request.

Additionally, we could use some animation effects to visualize the type of the map request, like enlarging the existing image on "zoom in" or gently move the image on "center" or "navFrame" interactions.

Here is a demo:

open issues:

  • make slippy behaviour configurable via an element var
  • adjust overview behaviour (selArea)
  • allow multiple WMS (still buggy)
  • adjust back and forward buttons (animation fails)
  • ...

  • animation fails when an action is performed twice quickly (only the last map is cached)

Hi,

i think, that it will be a very great feature. When it's finished, mapbender will take a great step to customize the look and feel of googleMaps and openLayers.
