Description

GeoServer 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 have problems with the German Umlaute, because they can't deal with it and interpret it as a ? in the SQL section. Because of that WFS Gazetteer gets no results back from GeoServer when filter contains a Umlaut
Tested with GeoServer 1.5.4 everything worked fine

Andrea Aime worked on the created ticket and couldn't reproduce it, so we should assume that everything works fine and do some more testing
