Metadata export/import

Description
I exported a metadata template from a 2.6.0 install using the export (ZIP).
I've now installed 2.6.1 and am trying to "metadata import" this (I deleted the database). But this isn't working. When I try and import the metadata.xml from the zip I get:
"group1singlemetadata.xmlynothing_nonenone_"
I'd also like to point out the error-message isn't very regular-user readable.
Attached is the metadata.xml.
It appears that I need to import the zip file as a "MEF". I got lucky by fiddling with controls. The problem is, the page isn't very clear on different formats, and the errors aren't that helpful.
