can open it ok by gdal

No trouble for me to open and convert the latter file with gdal-dev downloaded from gisinternals on January, 29. I am on Windows 64.

I working on Windows 7 64bit OS, Build the gdal 1.10 32bit version with microsoft visual studio 2005 32bit. and using the internal libtiff version of gdal.

For the version you download is 64bit or 32bit? I using the gdal of 32bit version on 64bit windows.
