Shift in the columns when converting a Fit image

Description 

When converting the utm.fit image (from remotesensing.org ftp) to a tif (using 
gdal_translate), the image seems to be shifted in the columns. I did use the 
04-Jan-2004 source code.

When using an old version of the code (1.1.9), the conversion is fine. When 
opening this image with OpenEv (using GDAL 1.1.9), the image is also fine.

I suspect that a change to the code, did introduce the shift in the columns.
Not sure though wish change.
