Yves,

what is your plan for the French translation (note for FrankW : this is a really huge and amazing work, as on http://softlibre.gloobe.org/doku.php?id=gdal_ogr:couteau_suisse:start, Yves has translated all the utilities doc and even the details for each format !) ? Currently it leaves on your wiki. Do you plan to integrate it into upstream GDAL ? or partly ? For your information, very recently, I've added an hyperlink in the header of http://gdal.org to your wiki.

The advantage of the wiki is that it is very easy to make changes in it. Another option is that your wiki could also be hosted on the trac.osgeo.ogr/gdal wiki to make it more "official", but it might be not fun to convert to the trac wiki syntax.

Hi,

At the begining I used OOo document, and move to wiki because it was simplier for me. I shared this doc in the OSGeo-fr ML to ask help (some people translated some pages). When I began, I don't remember that wiki already exists (two years ago) but I may wrong. That's one reason I used my own wiki.

Following some discussion with FrankW (about 1 year ago, not sure) I moved just some part to dox files. As you said converting dokuwiki syntax to trac syntax needs some work and I would like to work on other translation.

Well, I know that it is not a good idea to split documentation (even if it is just some translation) to different server but there is a reason that I am using my own wiki: host my documentation. Note that my mind can change, especially if someone is ready to work on moving pages.

At last, all the documentation needs to be proof readed.

Y.

There is a link from GDAL home page http://www.gdal.org/ "select language" which leads to http://gdal.gloobe.org/

Closing as fixed.
