The latest versions of the MG templates reformat the HTML error message into a good user-readable message. So in my experience this is not reproducible and requires no reworking of the error handling. Christine can you verify that the reported problem no longer occurs?

Jenny has checked it in latest MapGuide build 28.2, and it works correctly now. Close this defect.

I tried this in Safari 4 running on a Macbook Pro. It popped up an error dialog containing HTML content describing the connection problem. The HTML was displayed as plain text, which was not ideal, but the underlying cause of the error was reasonably clear.
