Overview
FDO currently has no standardized support for result set ordering.
Motivation
Ordering is a very commonly used operation with databases.
Clients such as MapGuide? can support rendering of complex roads networks if the resultset are ordered, allowing major features to be rendered atop minor features.
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/MapGuideRfc69 would require such support.
Proposed Solution
Add support for ordering to the FDO spec.
