#3776 closed enhancement (worksforme)

Join attributs from a non-geographical table

Must Fix for Release: Yes Platform: All

Description

Hi, In 1.6 version one could join a dbf table (non-geographical) via menu Vector->Data Management Tools->Join attributes and choose a dbf format table to join with. In 1.7 seems to exists only the possibility to make a Table Joins only if it's a vector Layer. In most cases, data is stored in Excel or Calc sheets. Please add the options to choose between a vector layer or any tabular format (dbf, csv, ods, xls) to perform a Table Join. Best regards, Pedro

You can also add geometryless datasources as "vector" layers now (eg. from postgresql or via "add vector layer") and join those.

Those are good news! Nevertheless, loading tables using “Add Vector Layer” can be misleading. The naming of the button doesn't suggest that it can add tables as well. Can it be done something about it? Create a new button to add tables? Renaming the “Add Vector Layer” button to something like “Add Vector or Table Layer”?? Cheers, Pedro
