The major version is always ready before FOSS4G conference and can be used in the workshops and is given away to the participants of the conference. From Verion 11.0 (2017) on OSGeoLive is released every year.

    1618Why did we jump from 7.0 to 7.9 (instead of following convention and selecting 7.5)? It was to honour one of OSGeo's heros, Arnulf Christl, who also goes by the nickname of "seven-of-nine".
