Actually self-teaching R, I can see in tutorials and articles some possibilities of R for cartography and in a GIS point of view. When I saw things like the Cartography package : https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/cartography/vignettes/cartography.html Or what it is possible to do with ggplot2: http://r4ds.had.co.nz/data-visualisation.html I think we can improve the actual quickstart (which had issues in 10.5 and 11.0 releases) and make it more appealing. https://live.osgeo.org/en/quickstart/R_quickstart.html GIS workflow needs data acquisition, manipulation and visualisation and that can be made in R like in GRASS, QGIS or postGIS. I can work on it with Tina Cormier and Etienne Delay who volunteered to help us. |
