The GRASS team has requested email 2 trac enabling, and I would like to see this for GDAL too.

This ticket is 3 years old now. Would the grass team sitll like to see it? Is anyone willing to step up and take it on as a task?

On review, I have come to the conclusion email2trac is somewhat complicated and doesn't work exactly like I had anticipated. I'd rather not assume responsibility for it.
