Assefa, any update on this?

The WMS client and WMS Server howto should probably include a section as well
with info specific to the use of SLD in client and server mode. Or maybe we
don't need a special set of docs for WMS-SLD and it can just go in new sections
of the WMS client and server howtos?

Actually, I'll assign to Jeff to take the lead on this (with Darren?) and bug
Assefa to get the info he needs to get started.

DocBook Source for SLD HowTo

There actually was a HowTo written (by Assefa and me) for SLD for the
GeoInnovations 2002 project. (I've attached the latest versions.)

There was also a similar document written for FE.

I haven't submitted these documents yet because I was waiting on some further
material (examples, etc.) from Assefa.

Jeff, you can take them over from here. I'll attach the FE documents to another
bug.

I guess the first step would be to add the docbook source to the mapserver_docs
CVS and have it linked from the 4.2 docs page. Then more examples and more meat
can be added to the document.

BTW, this may sound like a stupid question, but is your docbook document
compatible with what is used by the MapServer MDP?

Yes, the document should be compatible.

Jeff, Darren,

The only modifications I wanted to do the document is to have the sld examples
included in the doc instead (orin addition) of having a URL to the demo. There
are examples for each sld type. I am not even sure if this is a good idea since
the document will be very long with the examples inside it, but at the same
time, If the URL does not work for some reason, the user will loose the
examples. I guess having then at both places is the best option.

Jeff : do you need my help on this ? You can add the examples using the url.
For example for line examples, the url is
http://www2.dmsolutions.ca/msapps/world_testdata/tests/sld_tests/sld_line_simple.xml
and you can copy paste the sld into the document.

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed
i think bug#919 affects this bug. I made some changes to the way we show the
sld examples (so the user can click and see each sld definition)...but having an
example inline for each request would be too long. I personally think having
one simple sld example inline and then having the rest of the sld's linked is
fine. marking as fixed.
