It would be very advantageous to at least support metadata as specified in [http://www.fgdc.gov/standards/projects/FGDC-standards-projects/csdgm_rs_exMetadataRemoteSensingExtens.pdf FGDC-STD-012-2002]. XML is an ideal file format.
