#2823 closed enhancement (fixed)

Lack of satellite overpass time in metadata

Reported by: andbal Owned by: grass-dev@…
Priority: minor Milestone: Website
Component: Datasets Version: unspecified
Keywords: Cc:
CPU: Unspecified Platform: Unspecified

Description

In the North Carolina dataset (nc_spm_08_grass7), the metadata file of Landsat images, doesn't contain information about acquisition time of the scene. This information is needed in case someone want to use module like i.atcorr or i.soilheatflux on this example dataset.

I think a reasonable overpass time can be obtained from: http://cloudsgate2.larc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/predict/predict.cgi giving:

  • Date of acquisition
  • Coordinates of the scene center

I added an explanation of how to use this method in Atmospheric correction wiki page, but for the future datasets maybe images with full metadata is desiderable.

There are the .met files. Nothing else is available. I am not sure what you wish to be changed.

and linked to it elsewhere.
