Google Chrome blocks download of daily build
Reported by: | wenzeslaus | Owned by: | |
---|---|---|---|
Priority: | normal | Milestone: | Website |
Component: | Website | Version: | svn-trunk |
Keywords: | download, links, WinGRASS, security | Cc: | grass-dev@…, baharmon@… |
CPU: | Unspecified | Platform: | MSWindows 8 |
Description
The following binary download is blocked by Google Chrome web browser on MS Windows:
- http://wingrass.fsv.cvut.cz/grass71/
It works fine in the MS Internet Explorer. The latest release version works fine in Chrome. Looking at the URLs Chrome can be simply blocking non-HTTPS content. Probably just .exe
files, I was able to download binary file from another non-HTTPS website.
Please see also #2807.
Unrelated: I'm using this occasion to see how Trac works with the Cc field because I still don't understand it.

I am not sure if I understand well. I installed on Windows 7 latest Chrome browser and tried the link you noted. I was able to download .exe files without any problem.

You understand. This is exactly what didn't worked. I guess it can be random depending on time and perhaps country. This was observed on two different computers on two different days.

I can confirm it, chrome says "wingrass....exe is malicious and Chrome has blocked it". Happened on Windows 10. Gives this link as explanation.

I just tried. It still thinks it's a virus.

WinGRASS-7.1.svn-r67314-21-Setup-x86_64.exe from both the http: and https: addresses are labled as viruses. Of course, our agency is behind a web proxy, so changes may be delayed.

No, my mistake. The 7.1 downloads are still labelled malicious and blocked in Chrome.

I know this sounds weird, but I was just able to download the binary from http, but from https Chrome blocked it. I repeated it twice.

I don't have any problems anymore, if others agree I suggest to close this ticket. Thanks Martin!

OK, closing the ticket, feel free to re-open if needed.
Hi Martin: you could consider a free SSL Certificate. I have done that for some of my sites and can assist. It is a 10min effort.
