Description

r.external should automatically create an imagery group like r.in.gdal does when importing multi band raster files.

It would be probably reasonable to backport it to devbr6 and mayble also to relb64 (?)

Probably. r.external is new in 6.4, so there aren't any backward-compatibility issues.
