    44It's not clear to me how.  Input geometry can be arbitrarily complex, so attempting to derive some sort of tolerance from it has always seemed to be (a) difficult and (b) slow.  The NEARNESS_FACTOR is already used in conjunction with the requested grid size (scale factor).
