Cunit 2.1-3 breaks testing

Description

The internal structures Cunit uses change in the patch release 2.1-3, resulting in the cu_tester program segfaulting. The solution is the re-write the test setup code to use the cunit functions instead of building static internal structures.

don't tell me you are thinking of backporting this all the way back to 2.0? Does anyone who cares about upgrading anything still use 2.0?

I'm thinking about it for myself. If I get a 2.0 bug to fix and I can't run cunit without downgrading my computer, I'll be a bit annoyed.
