The mapview options are not being set anymore

We have found when testing the 1.8.6 beta that the mapView gsp file that has the band selection, histogram stretching, .. etc selction fields were not being retrieved for the wms layer. Scottie noticed that there was a hidden form for the getKml wmsParams and so when the javascript was setting the GetMap? wms layer for the new settings using the $("stretch_mode").value it was actualy hitting the stretch_mode in the wmsParams form and not the one in the selection list drop down.
