The OpenLayers Development Team is proud to announce release candidate 2 of OpenLayers 2.2. There are currently no outstanding issues with the 2.2 branch, and if no issues are reported, this will become the final 2.2 release.

Fixes in this RC include:

• Yahoo! Maps now included in default single file build
• Inclusion of Tim Schaub's Layer.Image
• Fix tile.clear() calls that got overrun during removal of Prototype.js

To test 2.2-rc2 in your applications, include the following tag in your OpenLayers-powered page:

Bug reports can be filed in Trac, under the 2.2 version and milestone.
