 ka-Map provides a slippy-map frontend for Chameleon/UMN MapServer?. It is aimed at projects that need a heavy server side to render complex stuff in the map images. There is some overlap in functionality with OpenLayers, however their target audience appears to be specifically consumers of the UMN MapServer?. Since MapServer speaks OGC WMS, it works great as an OpenLayers WMSDataSource. Are there things in ka-Map or Chameleon that should be treated as a new type of DataSource? Perhaps as an ActiveDataSource??
