Multiple optional WMS layers on same map get turned on/off together

Description

I define multiple WMS Layers in OpenLayers - each of which point to the same .map file. All but the 1st are optional (isBaselayer:no, transparent:yes). The 2n3/3rd optional layers are linked to the 1st when enabling/disabling them.

I can turn off the 1st fine with the other 2 on. If I turn off either 2nd or 3rd (or both) & switch 1st on/off then all go on/off. 2nd/3rd play nicely with each other but not when the 1st is enabled.

Was also present with OpenLayers-2.3

WMS Server is MapServer-4.10.1

Was a problem with the .map file - the MAP NAME was the same as the 1st-defined LAYER NAME
