Description

As per subject. Have tried adding loadend event listeners to Google Hybrid layer both at construction and afterwards, the event listener is known to be added successfully and present but the routine never gets called.

The Google Maps API does not provide events for determining when tiles are loaded, which means this is not possible through OpenLayers without information which is not currently available through the GMaps API.

If someone wishes to pursue this through the Google Maps API group, feel free to reopen the ticket once these events exist. (Or if I'm wrong; My knowledge may be incorrect.)

Try the "tilesloaded" event on GMap2. It's not documented yet, but will be soon.
