Starting with version 3.7, !MapServer supports OGC Web Map Context.

== Definition ==

A map context is an XML document that

  * describes the appearance of layers from one or more WMS servers
  * can be transferred between clients
    * maintains startup views, the state of the view (and its layers), and stores additional layer information.
