Changing group parameters via a URL

I have several layers grouped, and i use minscale and maxscale to enable/disable them. 
I need to change LABELITEM dinamically, and i find it would be very usefull if you could 
change LABELITEM via a URL. 
 
Since i don't know the current active layer, i would like to use the group name in the URL. 
Something like: 
 
http://server/cgi-bin/mapserv?map=city.map&layer=streets&map_streets_LABELITEM=spanish 
 
In this example, "streets" is the name of the group. All layer in the group have the same format 
(shp) and the same attributes in the DBF. I expect this URL will change LABELITEM on all 
enabled layers on the group "streets".
