Description
The GD dowload site (http://www.boutell.com/gd/) is down, and there is no indication how long this will remain so. There is a link to the code repository, but no standard tar-file is to be found there. Since MapServer cannot be compiled without GD, would it make sense to provide a tarball on mapserver.org?

BTW, the old GD site http://www.boutell.com/gd/ has a link to the source repository:
Note:
See TracTickets
for help on using tickets.
The official home of the GD library has moved to http://www.libgd.org/ a few years ago, but this site is also down at the moment.
I have posted copies of the latest official release at http://download.osgeo.org/mapserver/libgd/
... they seem to be the two latest source releases of the library published on libgd.org according to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.
I also updated (r11680) the README.CONFIGURE file in the MapServer source to link to this location.
Adding Jeff to CC in case he wants to add a note to the main MapServer website, but I'm not sure if it is necessary or even appropriate to link to the GD source from our main download page. It may be sufficient to add a mention in the compilation instructions.
