= Overview =

Most major projects/products have some sort of compilmentary project for community-based extensions to the main project/product. 

Some random examples:

 * Apache Ant - [http://ant-contrib.sourceforge.net/ Ant-Contrib]

Currently no such thing exists and the closest thing we have at the moment is the [http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/CodeSamples Code Samples]. 

It would make sense for MapGuide to have a "community extensions" sub-project, where users can contribute useful scripts and tools for MapGuide with proper source control and project management. 

The sub-project may also serve as a testbed for experimental ideas that may eventually make it into MapGuide mainline.
