Description
GDALDataset is used by a large amount of C++ code external to GDAL, but things like GDALMajorObject appear to be meant only for internal GDAL use. It would be have better documentation in gdal_priv.h or split out code that can be reasonably used. Maybe a C++ only section in gdal.h with a warning about link stability of C++?
