GDAL was upgraded to HDF-EOS2 version 2.12 in 2005 with r7401. It would be good to catch up now that it's been 10 years.
The major change is that there have been a couple memory handling fixes and many buffers have been increased.
It looks like some merging is going to be required. e.g. GDsdid() goes away.
The main ftp site is currently offline:
