Imported Erdas (from a NITF colored dataset) can't be opened with 'ViewFinder'

Description 

Using 'gdalcvs-20040603' gdal_translate.exe to create an erdas imagine file 
from a nitf file (http://dl.maptools.org/gdal/data/nitf/cadrg/001zc013.on1)), 
the generated file (test.img) can not be opened correctly using 'ERDAS 
ViewFinder'.

Noureddine, 

I am not able to reproduce this.  There were some serious bugs in the Erdas
writing code resolved in the last six weeks or so.  Would it be practical
for you update to a recently nightly snapshot and verify that this problem
no longer occurs for you?
