Building GDAL without third-party libraries

I am compiling GDAL version 1.7.3 on Windows.
I would like to compile it without using drivers dependent upon third-party libraries. e.g. sqllite, mysql.
Please guide how to achieve this. I tried making changes in makefile.vc but it does not work.

Hi,
The default options in nmake.opt are setup to build GDAL standalone with no external dependencies. What problems did you encounter with the default build? This might be better handled as direct email to me at warmerdam@…. It doesn't really seem to be a bug report.
