I get a similar effect to that reported in the .doc file if I open the lan file in openev. However, if I request histogram equalization the result matches the old RDO view.

So, I believe the problem is that the LAN driver in GDAL is not returning the statistics that ArcGIS wants to display this image well even though the file does come with a .sta (statistics) file.

I'm going to do a bit of research on the .sta format.

I have implemented support for the .sta statistics file in trunk (r15813). I'd appreciate your checking if this resolves the issue.

Gao reports "Yes. It fixed the problem."

The changes could be retro fit into 1.5 but it is more of a new feature than a bug fix. Anyone who needs it in 1.5 should let me know.
