Description
Can we please have shape
or shapefile
as an alias to esri shapefile
when choosing output format with ogr2ogr? I've not heard of any other format or vendor using this name other than ESRI, so having to explicitly specify the long name everytime is redundant and unnecessary in my opinion. Please help relieve my aching pinky finger from having to do any more [shift]-['] cords than absolutely necessary! thanks.
ogr2ogr -f shapefile [out_dir] [in-file]

I have a good news for you ! You don't even have to mention '-f "ESRI Shapefile"' on the command line... because that's the default argument...
So "ogr2ogr myshape.shp thesrc.xxx" should work.
