Description
For next release, it's recommended to re-generate configure script. There are some small fixes included in configure.in.
BTW, users who use GDAL from SVN are able to generate ./configure with provided autogen.sh script.

I have regenerated configure in 1.4.x branch, and updated the trunk HOWTO-RELEASE document to list regenerating configure as a release step.
