vrt lacks default histogram

Description 

The new PAM implementation has the ability to store histograms in XML.  It would
be nice for VRT files to have the same capability.  It would also be useful to
have the statistics from GetStatistics() cached as well.

Jeff,

I have committed changes so that VRT files will now save and restore 
histogram and statistics information in the vrt xml files. 

Let me know if you run into any more problems with this.
